Just the other day I went with my shih tzus to the veteran for a parvo injection. George weighs in at 19 and a half pounds and Eve and sixteen and half lbs. They both enjoy going to the veterinary doctor, everybody gives them so much notification. George visited the vet at the beginning then Eve.

Eve sprinted back out when the vet had ended testing her Nowadays, Eve began to throw up until all ingredients were out of her stomach. Our shih tzu began to lie down and directly refused to move at all. We were obviously troubled at this stage and all we could do was wait and hope for the best. Things didnt get better at all with poor Eve coggling all over the place, it was almost as if someone had injected her with a tranquilizer dart she was in so much uncomfortableness.

Our vet John was very quick off the market and got some steroids into our shitzu as fast as he could. We held back to see if this would work against the vaccine. Her breathing became very strenuous, and she appeared even less responsive. John then advised us that we get her to the specialist dog hospital in our area so they could provide her 24/7 care. At this period we could only pray that everything would work out.

The hospital put her on a drip that night. I dont think the lovely people in the clinic thought our shih tzu dog would make it but we were positive that it would all end up for the best. She spent 2 days in the hospital being pumped with drugs which was a bit discouraging as you could tell she was ill. This response to the injection caused her to go into shock, along with swelling and hemorrhage in her stomach and intestines. But, my little girl came through this, incredibly. She is recuperating at home.

She drinks her water and likes to sleep more than before but I can only imagine this is because the whole incident was so traumatic for her. I think she will come to a full recovery with time. It has been a sharp learning curve these last few months.

I have learned that the shih tsu breed are the no one to react to them. And I will be working to obtain "full disclosure" for people that take their pets to get immunized. This was a nightmare and very expensive.I dont suggest anybody goes through this like we had to.
